A Glimpse Into The Life Of Madiha Qaiser

Published

on

We got a chance to sit down with the trending Lahore based makeup artist so here’s an inside scoop from the well known Madiha Qaiser.

1. Where did you learn your makeup from?

My interest in makeup initially developed while I was working with Maram Azmat at her studio. After starting out on my own, I learned majorly on my own. Online makeup tutorials aided me in honing my skill and from then onward, I decided to practice more frequently.

2. How is your technique different from other makeup artists?

Every makeup artist has their own technique. For me, it’s not just about how the girl looks but it’s very important to consider how the makeup will make the girl feel. A beautiful look can give you a confidence boost and I always aim to create that for my clients. I’m very detail oriented; I also enjoy experimenting and tinkering with different color combinations in order to create exciting looks.

3. You’re one of the few makeup artists who have done many editorials and play around with different color schemes. Tell us more about that?

A lot of my work generally involves playing around with different colors and robust color schemes. After many experiences of working on editorials, I personally found unconventional, dynamic color combinations to be very attractive once the final look came out. Generally my approach involves taking a popular trend in makeup and working on it; thinking out of the box and experimenting to create something unique and interesting. Editorials offer up the best opportunity for experimental work, especially when it comes to trying unconventional methods to create something memorable. Editorials really allowed me to enjoy freedom with how I work and are the best for narrating a dramatic story.

4. According to you, what are the 3 most important tips for makeup for shoots?

a) Inspiration: At the end of the day it’s not just about a pretty face but researching, having inspiration and an image in mind ahead of the final shot really gives a shoot a unique point of view and edge.
b) Features: You have to take into account the features, work to flatter and accentuate a model’s natural beauty through makeup
c) Skin tones: Staying true to the skin tone while keeping the lighting and shoot settings in mind is incredibly important.

5. Where does your inspiration to create such art come from?

My two main sources of inspiration are research and the people around me. Coming across an interesting look or shoot online often inspires me to do my own take on it. I have always been an art lover; an avid interest in arts and crafts inspires me to translate that into my work. I like to view a woman’s face as a canvas and I use every shoot and every opportunity as a chance to create something that can be viewed as art and it is one of my favorite aspects of this job. I truly love being able to do this as my job.

6. What are your plans for the future?

My makeup studio was recently completed and I am super excited to see what’s next and how my plans play out this year! For the future, I’d definitely like to have heavier involvement in fashion. I’ve had a lot of experience of working on editorial projects, TVCs and in films and I’d like to expand and move to doing fashion projects on a more frequent basis as well. Only time will tell what happens next.

7. How do you manage work and family/friends?

Personally, I believe that it is all about finding the right balance. These days I’m more of a work hard, work harder girl! I am super focused on my work right now and have very little free time but I always make it a point to take some time out, relax, and enjoy a spa day with my friends. My family is extremely important to me and any time I spend with them is precious so I try and make as much time for my family and friends as I can.
