Pakistan to convert Rishi Kapoor’s ancestral home in Peshawar into a museum

Following a request by the actor, the Pakistan government has decided to convert Bollywood star Rishi Kapoor’s ancestral home in Peshawar’s Qissa Khwani Bazar into a museum soon.

According to the Indian Express, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that the Pakistan government will turn the actor’s house into a museum.

Speaking to a group of visiting Indian journalists, Qureshi said, “There was a call from Rishi Kapoor. He requested that his family’s home in Peshawar should be made into a museum or some sort of institution. We have accepted his request.”

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Shehryar Khan Afridi shared that Kapoor telephoned him and requested him to preserve his family’s house in Peshawar.

“He had called me and talked about making his ancestral home into a museum. Now the federal and provincial governments are working on this and will will transform the house into a museum soon,” Afridi said.

The Kapoor Haveli in Qissa Khwani Bazar was built by Basheswarnath Kapoor, the father of Bollywood icon Prithviraj Kapoor.

Raj Kapoor, the son of Prithviraj Kapoor, was born in Peshawar on December 14, 1924. The actor-director is best known for a string of hit films he made in the 1950s and 1960s.

The Kapoor family left Peshawar after the Partition in 1947.

Indian actor Shahrukh Khan is known as the “King of Bollywood”, but soon the superstar will be playing the king of the jungle, as he has landed the role of a lifetime. He will lend his voice for Disney’s #TheLionKing remake, dubbed in Hindi.

Khan will be playing the role of Mufasa in the film, leaving us with the question: Who will be playing the role of Simba?

Social media users were pleased to know that the iconic father-son duo, would be played by an “equally iconic” real-life father and son duo. Aryan Khan, Shah Rukh Khan’s eldest son, will be filling in Simba’s shoes, or should we say, paws!

The 53-year-old actor shared posters of the movie on Twitter (@iamsrk) and Facebook with a sweet message: “Glad to be a part of this journey… a timeless film. Voicing it in Hindi with my own Simba. The last time we did a film was around 15 years ago and it was ‘Incredible’ and this time around it’s even more fun. Hope everyone enjoys it July 19 onwards. #TheLionKing.”

Aryan Khan has not made his Bollywood debut yet, he has previously voiced the character Dash, in the Hindi version of Disney’s The Incredibles with his father.

On Twitter, Khan’s post was retweeted nearly 4,000 times and had 20,000 likes in just four hours.

Sophie Turner Says She Would Love to Do a Bollywood Film

Sophie Turner, who is currently basking in the success of her latest film X Men: Dark Phoenix, says she’d love to star in a Bollywood film sometime.

Sophie says she’s seen quite a few clips of her sister-in-law Priyanka Chopra’s Bollywood films and loves their song-and-dance vibe. When asked if she’d like to do a Bollywood film anytime soon, she told Pinkvilla, “Totally. I would love to. I love kinda seeing the big spectacles Bollywood movies are, just the way they create these beautiful sets. I would love to be a part of it and do a bit of singing and dancing.”

Notably, in March, Priyanka had shared a video of her, Nick Jonas, Sophie and Joe Jonas grooving to Tareefan, the super-hit song from Kareena Kapoor’s 2018 film Veere Di Wedding. The video currently has over 13.6 million likes.
