Maria Ali- A Classic addition in the World of Luxury Raiment

Published

on

We had a chit-chat with the very lovely, energetic and confident Maria Ali, the creative head of Maria Ali Couture,  who knows her work quite well. She believes that fashion should not be expensive, instead, it should be elegant, affordable and innovative.
Let’s see what modern-day fashion designer speaks about luxury clothing and her mission in making a mark in the market.
1) Your personal style statement in wedding\formal wear?
I believe that fashion is ever-evolving, it is a way to express your self, my style largely revolves around comfort and glamour. I love shalwaar kameez, anarkalis, saris, and kaftans.
2) In this modern age, where contemporary and traditional go hand in hand, how difficult is it to maintain both elements in an outfit?
Yes, it gets tricky, to balance both, but every dress has a different feel to it. A lot of ruffles, victorian frills are trending these days and in fact, will stay in fashion this year as well. But in the end, the dress needs to look glamorous, no matter what it takes.
3) Which prominent designer is your role model?
There are so many. Designers all around the globe come up with such lovely breathtaking couture pieces.
4) How the modernised era has affected wedding trends? Do you see a drastic change?
Well yes!! people have become very brand conscious, well aware due to social media. They are willing to spend a fortune, so it’s important to know how to develop a good brand name.
5) Which clothing trend was predominant in this wedding season and which one you liked the most?
A lot of Anarkalis, maxi dresses and lehnga cholis. I love them all. We just came up with our new collection keeping these trends in mind.
6) How the trends in clothing have changed over time and according to you what is missing nowadays?
I feel that your couture piece should be regal, powerful, glamorous and TIMELESS. Something that could be worn even after 20 years of purchasing the outfit.
7) What keeps you motivated every day to design and do the monotonous routine every day?
I am a workaholic, so it’s not at all boring or monotonous for me. I want to be one of the biggest brands, so this keeps me motivated
8) Being a mother, how do you tackle work and family at the same time?
It is very tough. One has to be very organised with a strict routine. So I can manage children’s pick n drop, homework, meals and give an equal amount of time to both. For this very reason, my studio where I meet my clients is at home. I need to give extra hours to maintain a work-life balance. My day starts very early and ends late.
11) What does it take to be a good designer?
Firstly passion, a lot of hard work, effort and pain goes into it. So one needs to be good with human resources, time management and definitely creativity.
12) Have you ever sensed any kind of monopoly in the fashion industry?
Not, at all. Numerous new brands are getting established that proves this industry supports whoever has the talent. If you have the talent and business Equipment, no one can stop you from succeeding.
13) Do you think that we are losing old school charm with these budding trends in the wedding and formal wear?
Not really, I just feel we are in fact going back to the old school charm.
14) What do you have to say about more women coming in this business despite having a family and a lot of responsibilities?
I believe women generally are getting into professional fields in our country, which of course I believe is the need of the hour. As a nation or country where women constitute more than 50 percent of the population, it is of paramount importance that women should utilise their skills, not only for the growth of the economy but also contribute to the well being of their household.
15) What are your next plans?
Well, we have started working on our bridal and formal 2020 collection, which will be launched at the end of May right after eid. Meanwhile, we are working on our summer luxury and eid collection.

And, he has given back his learning and knowledge by motivating, educating, and mentoring people to be successful in life.

Here are some motivational thoughts by the Forbes awarded entrepreneur Muneeb Mushtaq to get you motivated and beat the Monday blues:

  1. Get rid of the useless and negative clutter in your life

Muneeb Mushtaq suggests that it is important to subtract some of the unnecessary things from life to realise how insignificant they are. He advises us to get away from the insignificant and negative clutter in order to see an immediate positive impact. Worrying about what others think of us, trying to please everyone are some of the unimportant things we need to remove as soon as possible. According to him “When you remove what’s negative, it’ll add more space for what’s POSITIVE”!

  1. Don’t wait, just take the first step

The successful entrepreneur recommends us not to wait for other people or for the perfect moment to do what you have always wanted to do. There will never be a perfect time, situation or circumstances that would make you start working on your dreams. He advises us to just take the first step and get started.

  1. Failure is the opportunity to start over again, more wisely

The dynamic businessman is also of the view that failure provides an invaluable experience that makes it more likely to get success the next time around. He explains: “Till the time you don’t give up, the failures are just learning experiences, helping you to eventually succeed.”

  1. Respect the competition

Muneeb Mushtaq also shares this motivational thought that competition should be embraced and should be used as a driving force to push you further rather than fearing it. Competition is also a validation that there is a massive market and opportunity in the space to grow further.

  1. Change is important
